Hanging photos and postcards without frames - these methods are available
Pictures with class do not necessarily always need a frame. Many people today have their photos printed on high-quality backgrounds that look elegant and exclusive on the wall even without a frame! And all without a frame.
You can hang pictures with a low weight, such as photos and postcards, in various places on your wall without a frame anyway. A single nail is usually enough for this anyway. But there are now also numerous other methods that make it easier for you to hang your pictures. Forget picture frames and do without drilling, nails and unsightly holes in your wall. No drilling machine, no stress and above all no hole in your wall. Find out how to do it here with us.
With the GAEKKO hanging system, you can easily hang your pictures on the wall without a picture frame and without drilling holes. Forget picture frames, nails or drills – from now on you can hang your photos, art prints and beautiful cards on the wall without a frame!

Hanging pictures without frames? Is that possible?
Hello Team-GAEKKO,
I would like to print out a lot of photos (photo paper/photo printer) soon and hang them on the wall in the hallway. For cost and design reasons, I would prefer to hang them on the wall without a picture frame … or if that doesn’t work, put them in one of those ‘multiple picture frames’. However, since there are a lot of photos and also these picture frames are very expensive, I wanted to ask if you have any ideas and tips on how I can fix my photos to the wall without frames … I would also be happy to receive tips on how to fix photos to the wall. It is important to me that I don’t end up with a wall that is completely perforated by nails or drilling. Unfortunately, you can’t stick pins into my wall either, as it is a brick wall with rough plaster.
Thank you & greetings
Leni
Hanging pictures with string or wire
Photos and postcards can also be hung on a wall by means of string, cord or fairy lights. You can hang the string on the wall with dowels and screws or a small nail and string it vertically or horizontally. The wire or string can be arranged as a classic photo rope or even in a zigzag pattern. You can easily hang the pictures with small wooden clothes pegs or large metal paper clips at several points on the string. For a little more colour, you can also stick coloured tape on the clothes pegs. Note, however, that this type of hanging is only suitable for light pictures such as photos and postcards without picture frames. This hanging system is therefore completely unsuitable for heavy pictures or oversized photo prints with a high weight.
A slightly different way to hang your pictures on the wall is with a coat hanger. The hanger is hung on the wall with a nail or screw. Then you can stick the pictures on the hanger.
Our tip: Attach several strings to a coat hanger. The pictures or photos can be easily attached to the hanging ropes in several places with staples or adhesive tape. It’s even easier if you use trouser hangers and simply clamp the pictures in place. By the way, you can also use hangers to present somewhat larger pictures without frames or magazines with cool covers on a wall.
Sticking pictures on the wall
With one nail as a central hanging point, you can often quickly hang small picture frames on the wall. Larger picture frames have more weight and should be hung with several nails. Use a spirit level, tape measure and pencil to mark the places on the wall where the nails will later be driven into the wall. If you don’t want to drill or nail holes in the wall, but still want to decorate your home with pictures, you can attach your pictures to the wall with adhesive nails, adhesive strips or double-sided adhesive tape.
The quickest way to hang your pictures on the wall is with several adhesive strips or double-sided tape on the back of the picture. More eye-catching, however, is colourful washi tape, which you can use either to tape only the corners at the front or to stick a frame around your picture. Adhesive nails are quite easy to attach and hold reliably on various surfaces, such as tiles and wallpaper. Adhesive nails or picture hooks have a simple hook on which you can hang your pictures. They are a practical alternative to drilling and screwing.
Our tip: If you are trying to hang several pictures in different places on the wall, a picture rail or picture ledge is the right thing for you. With a picture rail, you can simply place several pictures on the narrow strips and lean them against the wall. However, a little drilling is necessary to ensure that your picture rail hangs securely on the wall and supports the weight of your pictures. You also need to use a spirit level to attach the picture rail straight to the wall so that your pictures hang straight on the wall afterwards.
Therefore, our tip: As soon as the tenancy agreement is signed, it is legally binding. If you only skim through your tenancy agreement and do not read it carefully, you may be in for a nasty surprise. Therefore, take enough time to read your tenancy agreement carefully and ask your landlord about any changes. Be sure to get your landlord’s permission before making any major structural changes to your flat.
Hanging pictures with magnetic paint
It’s actually quite simple: paint your walls with magnetic paint and then simply attach your own pictures, photos and postcards to the blank wall with magnets. To ensure that the magnets stick to the magnetic paint, you should apply the magnetic paint in several layers. By individually positioning your pictures and photos with magnets, you can quickly and easily design your own photo wall and hang your pictures anywhere on your wall. You should always use strong magnets so that they stick to the wall with magnetic paint and a satisfactory result can be achieved.
Our tip: Neodymium magnets are small, inconspicuous magnets that are nevertheless very strong and hold more weight than conventional magnets.
