HANG UP PICTURES - TIPS & TRICKS

Almost all of the above-mentioned methods have one big disadvantage: the pictures have to be nailed or screwed to the wall. This causes many holes in the wall, especially when hanging up the picture series. If you live in a rented apartment or if the underground of the wall is not made for the arrangement of the pictures with dowels or nails, we have the solution for you: The picture hangers from GAEKKO!

This means for you that you do not necessarily have to drill a hole in the wall to hang your stretcher frame picture on a board. You can alternatively choose the self-adhesive function of our picture hanger! Due to the large adhesive surface, the load capacity is up to 2 kg. Conventional picture hanging systems have a much smaller adhesive surface and therefore they have a much lower load capacity. And if your picture is heavier, you can fix it to your wall with the screws, dowels or nails provided. Picture hangers for pictures of any kind that you can stick, nail or screw to the wall. No matter whether they are large pictures on aluminum composite, canvas or photos and postcards. Our picture hangers are suitable for every picture, format and every wall.

For each picture there is also a suitable picture hanger. Picture hangers are used for many different types of pictures such as picture frames, posters, pictures on plate, canvas pictures, wooden picture frames, photos or postcards. We will give you a short overview of the different picture hangers and the different types of images:

Picture hangers for wooden frames

There are different picture hangers for canvas pictures and wooden picture frames, which can help you to hang pictures on the wall quickly and easily. With the picture hangers, your wooden and stretcher frames not only hang securely on the wall but you can also align your pictures flexibly. It starts with very simple hangers like triangular hangers for gluing or jagged hangers for screwing on and goes up to massive picture hangers that can carry weight over 10 kg. The picture hangers are not visible and and can be mounted relatively easy on the frame rail with nails or screws. Sawtooth hangers are mounted on the back of the frame with a small screw. Sawtooth hangers have the following advantage: You can additionally vary your canvas pictures or picture frames in their horizontal position. Thanks to the small jags on the hangers, you can easily move your frames to the left or to the right. This advantage is useful if you have placed the hanging point slightly offset on the wall and you want to hang up a picture in the middle of the wall.

Picture hangers for pictures on plate

Mostly self-adhesive picture hangers, also called mirror hangers, are used for pictures on plates (acrylic glass, aluminum dibond, forex). These picture hangers are glued to the back of the plate and make sure that your picture has a small distance to the wall. This gives the image a free-floating look. These picture hanger sets are usually supplied with the appropiate spacers so that your picture on plate has the same distance to the wall everywhere. To ensure that the mirror sheets also hold on to the back of the panel, the surface should not only be smooth, but also free of dirt and grease. To fix the picture hangers you have to drill a hole into the wall and fix the mirror hanger to the wall with dowels and screws.

There are countless picture hangers (e.g. jagged hangers, folding eyelets, picture hooks) for the different types of pictures, but they all have one thing in common: they are designed to help you hang up pictures easily and align them straight on the wall. Most picture hangers such as serrated hangers and eyelets are invisible attachments. From simple jagged hangers with screws to folding eyes with nails for small wooden picture frames, there is a suitable hanger for every picture.

Find the picture hanger that suits you and your picture

We at GAEKKO have developed self-adhesive hangers for every type of picture. We have an extensive collection of hangers for pictures on plate and stretcher frame. But also for photos & postcards we offer you a suitable solution. The advantages of our picture hangers compared to standard jagged hangers and folding eyes are obvious. You can attach your pictures to your wall without drilling and thus without holes. You are still not sure which picture hanger is the right one for you? With our picture generator you are guaranteed to find the right hanger for you! GAEKKO is the specialist when it comes to attaching pictures quickly and easily to the wall. In short, picture hangung is done with GAEKKO!

Even the avoidably simple task of hanging up a picture can become a real nuisance. This does not have to be the case, however, if you follow these simple tips when decorating the wall: The spirit level is sometimes the most important tool for attaching suspension points at the same height and thus attaching pictures straight to the picture hanger. The longer the spirit level, the more precise the correct alignment for hanging the pictures on the wall.
The more modern and versatile version of the classic spirit level is the laser or cross line laser spirit level. Laser technology is used to project a straight line onto the wall, which can be aligned horizontally, vertically, diagonally or crosswise. With this method, hanging the picture is easier than ever. Even larger picture rows of different formats or pictures with frames can be hung on the wall at exactly the same height.

A real obstacle when hanging pictures can be a wall made of concrete. A hole is laboriously drilled into the concrete wall with heavy equipment such as a drill or hammer drill. There are a few alternatives, because if you have ever tried to stick large picture frames made of glass to the wall with power strips, you usually won`t do it a second time. Especially with large picture formats, you should drill precisely at a 90 degree angle to the wall to avoid later skewing caused by screws, dowels and your picture.5. Gluing pictures on the wall – how does it work?

Almost all of the above-mentioned methods have one big disadvantage: the pictures have to be nailed or screwed to the wall. When hanging pictures, you can distinguish between a single-point-suspension and a two-point-suspension. Especially small works of art and lght frames can be hung up with a suspension point. For larger pictures or a large format canvas you should use two fixing points or two picture hangers.

One-Point-Suspension

The one-point-suspension is mainy used for smaller wall pictures. The easiest way to find the right place to hang your picture is to place it in different places and heights in the room. Once you have found the right place, mark the spot on the wall where the picture hanger shpuld be placed. Take the format of the picture hanger and transfer the measured values to the wall, taking into account the height. A pencil and spirit level will help you to mark the measurements and arrange the picture correctly on the wall.

Two-Point-Suspension

Especially large and heavy pictures are suspended with two fixing points. The procedure is almost the same as for single-point hanging. Instead of the center point, you now have determine and mark the distance between the two suspension points. A spirit level helps you to align the two impact points horizontally. Precise work is very important here in order to achieve the exact same height of the suspension points to prevent the picture from skewing later.

You can hang up pictures in many different ways. The choice of mounting depends not only on the number and size of the pictures but also on the room layout and above all on your own taste.

Picture rail or gallery rail

The picture rail or gallery rail looks like a curtain rail, but is very stable and is mounted directly on the ceiling with plugs or screws. Therefore you have to drill, but only once and please do it precisely. Because after that there is room for many and especially heavy pictures, which are attached to the rail with a string and hooked in. The height-adjustable hoos offer flexibility with regard to the respective image suspension and image size.

Mounting tape

The self-adhesive plastic tape is provided with a protective film that is stuck to the back of the picture. Then remove the protective film and press the picture firmly against the wall. The heavier the picture, the more adhesive tape is needed. However, caution is advised here. This is because the adhesive tape has a very high adhesive power and, depending on the type of wall, can leave residues when it is pulled off.

Velcro tape

Another solution is offered by special adhesive tape with velcro. These are attached to the back of the picture frame on all sides. Then the picture is pressed against the wall so that it sticks to the wall. Thanks to the velcro fastener in between, the picture can be removed at any time and another one attached to the same place.

Washi-Tape

This decprative, single-sided adhesive tape is a real alternative to a picture frame. The desired picture or photo is stuck to the wall with Washi Tape. For large pictures or posters, it is advisable to attach the Washi Tape to all sides of the picture to hold it securely to the wall. An impressive effect is achieved when several pictures are arranged next to each other or on top of each other with Washi Tape on the wall.

Picture shelves or picture rail

Picture shelves are used to line up several pictures on the wall due to their length. Because the picture shelf is narrow, it does not protrude far into the room and places the pictures in the foreground. In addition to the easy exchangeability and the possibilty of redesigning the pictures, other decorative objects can be placed on the picture rail and integrated into the overall picture.

Photo rope

The photo rope can be a simple string or a wire rope with several photo holders. The rope is mounted on the wall with a nail or screw and can be strechted both horizontally and vertically into the room. The rope is only suitable for light pictures and photos and not something for framed pictures. The photo holders are either already fixed to the photo rope or can be attached in DIY style with clothes pegs, for example made of wood.

In which height you would like to hang up your pictures depends on your personal taste. If you want your pictures to inspire direct viewing, the center of your picture should be a little below eye level. In many museums and galleries, the center of the pictures is therefore mostly 145 to 150 cm above the floor. Sitting on the sofa in the living room, of course we recommend a lower height than when standing in the hallway. In this case the lower edge of your picture frame should hang about 20-30 cm above the seat of your sofa.

You want to hang pictures in different formats and shapes on the wall? Do you want all your pictures to be aligned to an imaginary center line or should they all be placed at the same height? A considered arrangement forms the basis of for the design of a stylish picture wall and precedes the actual hanging of the pictures. To test the arrangement of the picture wall, you can first lay out your frames on the floor or table. How to combine, sort, arrange and hang up photos, picture frames or pictures on plates we will show you here:

Single Hanging – A wall, a picture

Special works of art deserve special attention. You can present your single favorit picture for example over a special piece of furniture in your home. With the single hanging, your picture is in the center of attention and thus always receives the full attention of the viewer. The interaction with the room, the height as well as the right distance to the rest of the interior design is more important than ever.

The Petersburg Hanging
With the Petersburg hanging you can combine pictures of all formats and forms with each other, so that an orderly chaos is created. The arrangements of your pictures are manifold and the combination possibilities are unlimited. In order not to appear too chaotic, you can combine motifs with similar color worlds, identical frames and passepartouts or similar formats. Also, orient yourself to lines in the room such as door or window frames and edges of the image arrangement.

The Edge Hanging

With the edge hanging you align all pictures at an imaginary center line. The distance between the images is always the same, but can be different horizontally and vertically. The edge hanging is an absolute classic, whereby only the distance between the center line and all parallel edges should always remain the same in order not to make the pictures arranged along the line appear too chaotic. Our tip: Draw two parallel lines on the wall beforehand with a pencil and a spirit level. These serve as a horizontal orientation point to hang the pictures on the wall at the right distance.

The Row Hanging

If you hang several pictures in the same size at the exactly the same height, this results in a row hanging. The hanging in rows is perhaps a bit strict but gives a certain calmness to pictures with different colors and motifs. If you have groups of pictures in different formats, you can align them with the edges of the frame or an imaginary center line. This form of arrangement is often found in galleries and art exhibitions to keep the viewer`s gaze at eye level.

The Grid Suspension

The grid suspension is reminiscent of a memory game or chessboard, as it follows a clear, strictly geometrical arrangement of images of the same size. It is important that your pictures should be of the same size and that you always have as many pictures as you need to arrange them in a complete length and/or width order. The distances between all images on all sides should always be the same and not too far apart (max. 10-15 centimeters). Hangs with odd chessboard arrangement (e.g. 3×3) put the most important image in the center and use a different colored frame or passepartout for the image in the center.
