DIY Photo Wall: Do you have ideas for an individual photo wall?
Hello all,
I have a lot of photos in different colours and motifs that I took with my own camera. I am looking for inspiration on how to hang my photos on the wall in a creative way. My problem is that I have a very sensitive wall and therefore I don’t like to make holes in the wall with tacks or small nails.
I had also designed my old photo wall myself and attached it to the wall with small power strips. Now I’ve taken a photo off and there are adhesive residues left from the glue on my photo. And my wallpaper is now also a bit battered. Now I’m looking for another idea of how to attach the photos.
I already had the idea of painting my walls with magnetic paint and hanging the photos on the wall with small magnets. Apart from the fact that it would be quite an effort to repaint my entire wall, I wonder if this would really work? I mean, is the magnetic effect of the magnetic paint and the small magnets really big enough for me to create my own photo wall?
Or I use a string and hang my photos on the string with small wooden clothes pegs. I also had the idea of using a string of lights instead of a cord. But I would need a lot of clothes pegs because I have a lot of photos. I also saw a DIY photo wall online with a birch trunk and a string of lights on which the photos are hung.
Do you know any other DIY ideas for hanging my photos on the wall?
Thank you & greetings
Jenny
Which wall and which motifs are suitable for a photo wall?
Before you hang your photos randomly on the wall, you should think about which wall your Gallery Wall art will look best on as a decoration. The wall above your sofa or bed is particularly suitable for a creative photo wall. It can also be a free space above a chest of drawers or a free wall in the hallway or staircase.
Of course, it makes a difference which wall you want to embellish with your favourite photos. However, you should never consider the wall in isolation, but always include the entire room, your decorations or a complete wall view when planning. For example, the edge of a window or door frame can determine the height of your photo wall.
There are so many different ways to design your individual photo wall. For example, you can design your photo wall according to a specific colour or motto. Some people like it more colourful and design their photo wall in rainbow colours. Others like to keep it black and white or go for natural colours in a minimalist style.
Of course, your photo gallery wall can also follow a special theme or a beautiful memory. This could be, for example, your own wedding or the first time you met. Holiday photos or pictures from joint trips are also suitable for a great photo wall. Romantics might like a photo collage that captures the happiest moments of your life. This romantic effect can be enhanced by arranging your favourite photos in the shape of a heart.
